I was thrilled to find the Sneakers tunes online. I loved listening to them as a kid in San Diego. My mom still has the vinyl. Rumor had it that they were all school teachers. I hope we can get some more Sneakers up for people to hear. There are two other albums that have the Sneakers on them. The Terminal Entry (1986) movie soundtrack has 3 Tweed Sneakers songs it. Two of which are not from On the Prowl. The compilation album Ska Gone South (1994) has 1 track, also not from On the Prowl. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, somebody put these online for people to download. I'd love to see a reunion or have someone worth while do covers. The Sneakers still kick butt after all these years.

Not sure about all of the members of Tweed Sneakers, but I do know the bassest Jon was not a school teacher.

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!

I followed this band all over San Diego in the 80's and just loved them. I had the vinyl but my ex ended up with it when we split. I've been looking for these songs for the past 10 years.

Had to wait to stop dancing to write this... think I broke a hip :-)

I LOVED the Tweed and followed the band and saw them every chance I got. I became good friends of Jon's and his family. I wish there would be a reunion, tho that's doubtful. Wonder if the boys know they are on this blogspot?

Wow, I worked at Sea World in late 1982 before I left for the Air Force. A buddy of mine and I worked the 1982 Halloween party at Sea World. Tweed Sneakers was there but as Harry Krishna and His Rama Vengers! Great times!

I caught these guys above Longi's on Maui. Loves was the name of the club then. I worked with a guy that ran the sound there for the bands. He bootlegged a show or two (probably all)... I begged a tape off of him.... no... damnit... I do not still have the tape.

I enjoyed every performance of TS I caught there at Loves... I was only there for a year or so at the time and was missing some of FUN stuff going on musically in SoCal at that time.

Aloha Tweed Sneakers! and Mahalo!

I am amazed and happy to see all of the wonderful comments about a band that meant so much to me. When I met them, Tweed Sneakers was playing at a restaurant in Cardiff, no dancing, no cover, no way! I managed the band and my friend Mark Levy of Redline Talent in Hollywood booked the band. They were the most popular live act in SD. They opened for many huge artists in LA, they blew up and people became fanatics after seeing them. They were an amazing, original powerhouse trio that truly entertained people. They were all talented in different ways, a real synergy existed in them.
I have some original EPs that I had them sign the liners of B4 they were shrink wrapped at PRC after pressing. I have many artifacts from the shows, tapes of live shows and other cool stuff. I will try to post it for everyone who enjoyed them.
It's really great to see that so many of you true fans have honored that special time in SD during the early 80's when life was great fun and Tweed Sneakers shows were the place to be! -Dana Sound Advice

I have the best memories of their shows at the Distillery east in Escondido. Any live photos or video would be soooo nostalgic. I did a little checking a few years back and found that Skippy is playing in a traditional Irish band and Freddie was playing in his daughter's band (sorta bluegrass/Americana). He's outta state now.

im a geek, i wear white socks.
we followed freddie f8ck-off , john and skippy until they split and some of them formed a new band, that i used to know the name but we lit up on the dance floor at distillery west or the belly-up, so i dont remember all of the places, as we followed them all over san diego in the early eighties. we had a group from allied gardens and poway. i left their vinyl in my old house in ramona and left san diego 4yrs ago, so if any of you remember me, 'i am still alive'.

Ahh man, I have been searching for this record for ever! This album was given to me by my Uncle Fred! (Fred Lahmann).
Fred would sit and talk music till the cows came home always smiling and joking. Good memories!

Hey that’s funny, Fred Lahmann is my uncle too. I still have his album stashed away somewhere. Wonder if this is my brother talking here. We used to listen to Fred play all the time. Went once to one of the clubs in San Diego. Didn’t live in the area. Fred will still play at family functions from time to time. Real character.

My Dad told me a story where Tweed Sneakers played at his graduation party from Torrey Pines HS.
